Snow on Snow is intended, not as a nostalgic tribute to the days before global warming when the weather was more predictable and we were guaranteed snow at Christmas! – but simply as a glimpse of a still and tranquil scene. The piece modulates into a swung 3 at the end, setting up Goodnight Lamp Light. This short medley was one of those happy studio ‘first take’ experiences where we’d already captured something before the dangers of a more self-conscious and analytical approach encroached.
